The game features relentless combat in the form of ‘hack and slash’ against human, animal and fantasy characters. Dependent upon the level of the player’s character, enemy characters can be killed with as little as one sword strike or one shot from a firearm. Most engagements are against hordes of enemy characters and during combat, which can be quite frenetic, characters that are killed can burst into indeterminate parts which then disappear quite quickly leaving some blood effects. For this reason, such scenes are regarded as sustained depictions of death.
