This game has received a PEGI 12 because it features depictions of non-realistic looking violence towards human-like characters, and use of bad language. Not suitable for persons under 12 years of age.
The Diplomacy and Strategy Expansion Pack contains various new features, such as trade with great Eurasian empires, including Rome and India, allowing for broader strategies on a path to unify China. The expansion pack also introduces the cities of foreign forces onto the map.

Rating issues

This game contains depictions of non-realistic looking violence towards human-like characters. During a section of gameplay, two men are shown battling in a joust. They charge towards one another and make contact. The two then proceed to ride alongside one another whilst repeatedly swinging and slashing at each other. Bright lights appear when impacts are landed and no visible wounds are shown. When one of the men is defeated, he falls from his horse and the scene ends. All of the violence is unrealistic in nature.

The game also contains infrequent use of bad language (‘bastard’).
