This rating has been given because it features graphic violence, including the motiveless killing of innocent characters and violence against vulnerable and defenceless characters, as well as use of strong language and encouragement of gambling. Not suitable for persons under 18 years of age.
Action adventure game in which Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee after a robbery goes wrong. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation in pursuit, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the heartland of America in order to survive.

Rating issues

This game features graphic violence towards human-like characters. Powerful weapons, including explosives, can be used to kill or incapacitate. The use of explosives at close range can lead to decapitation and dismemberment, both of human characters and horses. Reactions to violence are realistic, with characters screaming in pain and wounds appearing on their bodies. There are some ‘execution-style’ moves, which feature strong blood and gore.

The game also features violence towards defenceless characters, including the ability to lasso and tie up innocent people, on whom violence can then be inflicted. This includes dragging them behind horses, leaving them on train tracks and throwing them into water to drown. The player can also attack and kill multiple civilian characters using any of the weapons at their disposal.

There is frequent use of strong language (‘fuck’) as well as discriminatory terms, such as the ‘n’ word.

The player is able to bet on and partake in various games of chance, such as poker and blackjack. All of these games feature in depth instructions informing the player of the rules and how to bet.

Other issues

This game offers players the opportunity to purchase gold bars which can then be used to buy additional items within the game, including clothing items, horses, weapons and food. Items can be purchased with money earned inside the game but some items require the use of real world money, which some parents or carers may want to be aware of. Parents, carers or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child. It should be noted that the game can still be played without the need to purchase such items.
