This game contains frequent depictions of graphic violence towards human-like characters. The vast majority of attacks cause dismemberment, decapitation or mutilation. Large amounts of blood and gore are visible upon impact of attacks. There is also a considerable amount of injury detail visible. As attacks make contact, skin can be seen ripping open and bones becoming visible, poking out through the skin. The majority of the violence is inflicted using powerful projectile weapons. However, there are a number of melee weapons such as chainsaws and swords that can also be used. The level of violence is the same regardless of what weapon is being used. When an enemy has been staggered the player gains the option to perform a ‘glory kill’, which is powerful move that instantly kills the enemy. These moves are particularly graphic as the camera zooms in and focuses on the gore.
