Violence during the opening sequence is realistic, with fantasy characters recoiling after being attacked with an array of weapons. During gameplay, violence is non-realistic to both human and fantasy characters; when hit, a flash of coloured light is seen, and number damage appears overhead. When defeated, enemies deflate and fall to the ground. The player has the option to resurrect these characters and use them as battle companions.

Some of the designs of the monsters in this game may be scary to younger players.

There is a scene in ‘Sword of the Necromancer’ and ‘Sword of the Necromancer Resurrection’ in which a woman is seen bathing in a lake. An image depicts her naked, with her hair covering her nipples. Another character talks about enjoying seeing her naked and the effect that had on her.
