This game has received a PEGI 18 which restricts availability to ADULTS ONLY and is not suitable for persons under 18 years of age. This rating has been given because it features use of strong language, violence against vulnerable and defenceless characters and graphic violence.
Latest instalment in the Gears of War series. This game is a prequel to the first game, showing the original emergence of the Locust horde. Players take on the role of the original protagonist, Marcus Fenix, and sets out with Dom and other familiar faces to fight against the alien force that has attacked the planet of Sera.

Rating issues

This game contains depictions of graphic violence towards human characters. During one cutscene two human characters can be seen being captured by the hostile enemies. One of them is shown being impaled by a harpoon launcher, whilst another has a burning hot acidic liquid poured directly onto their face and chest. The liquid eats through the man’s helmet and chest armour, exposing his chest cavity and melted skull. The game also features violence to vulnerable and defenceless characters. During the prologue many human defenceless human characters can be seen being murdered during the alien invasion.

This game also contains the use of strong language, including ‘fuck’.

Other issues

This game offers players the opportunity to purchase in-game items in the form of cosmetic items which some parents or carers may want to be aware of. Parents, carers or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child. It should be noted that the game can still be played without the need to purchase such items.
