Death end re;Quest 2 is an action-RPG developed for the PlayStation 4. The story focuses on Mai Toyama, who escapes her abusive past in search of her long-lost sister, Sanae. The gameplay consists of RPG-style dungeon exploration and turn-based combat. The rest of the gameplay consists of visual novel dialogue scenes.

Rating issues

The still image scenes, while not depicting any actual violence, describe in detail how various characters are killed. These scenes are often accompanied by horrific sound effects, with copious amounts of blood shown on screen, although without any sight of injuries to characters. Some of these scenes include disturbing references to both domestic and child abuse, including incest. Again, there are no visual depictions of this abuse.

Other issues

Offensive language is used, including ‘bastard’, ‘bitch’, ‘piss’, ‘shit’ and ‘whore’. The game also includes third person view battle scenes in which anime-style human characters take turns to attack a wide variety of fantasy creatures, using both weapons and magical abilities. When characters are attacked, no injuries are depicted with levels of damage shown in the form of scores.
