Jan Scientist can finally pursue his true calling. While the other Jans left, he chose to stay and lead a team of new specialists – assembled by himself, from himself. Only a scientific crew of altered Jan scientists, with their perfectly aligned minds, can offer the expertise needed to unravel the phenomenon of the Oasis.

Rating issues

During a cinematic sequence, the player amputates another crew member’s arm. The scene is minimally animated, but blood is shown and pained sounds are heard before the severed limb is seen lying on a table. The relieved crew member is then shown afterwards with a bandaged stump with no gory details depicted.

The player has the option to participate in games of beer pong to boost morale, during which, the crew is depicted drinking.

This game also contains the use of strong language, including ‘fuck’. Milder bad language is also present, including ‘asshole’, ‘bastard’ and ‘bitch’.

Other issues

The game contains some images that players may find disturbing, with corpses often seen in environments.

The Alters base game offers players the opportunity to purchase in-game items, in the form of a link to the storefront where players can purchase this DLC in the Xbox and PC versions, which some parents or carers may want to be aware of. Parents, carers, or other responsible adults should check to see what is being offered before making any purchase on behalf of a child. It should be noted that the game can still be played without the need to purchase such items.
